Three English photographers are plunged into a world of corruption and murder on a photographic safari to Tanzania, Africa, when they find themselves pitched against the power brokers of the mining industry which is rapidly destroying the environment and wildlife of the region. In recounting the adventure of the three Englishmen, in a world far removed from their own, the author keeps us in constant suspense as the story carries us at breakneck speed through nature reserves and across the vast African savanna as violence and death follow them wherever they go. The English Photographer, written in a simple expressive style, shows us another side to the frenetic weeks spent there, when one of the men, the main character, falls in love with a mysterious Frenchwoman as they join forces to battle those, who driven by greed, are bent on a path of irreversible destruction.
The English Photographer Mónica Corcuera Books
The English Photographer is a fast paced novel in which John Carmichael has to cope with his rough inner self, while trying to stay alive and expose the ruthless, corrupt and greedy operations of the gold mining industry and government of Tanzania.Monica keeps a smart narrating balance between the intense action, the description of the rich African savanna and John's feelings for Marie, a French veterinarian who has devoted her life to preserving the life of the animals affected by the irresponsible exploitation of the land in the region.
A must read for sure.

The English Photographer Mónica Corcuera Books Reviews
There are no words to express how amazed I am by this book. I honestly have never done any reviews on books, but right after I finished reading "The English Photographer" I was compelled to express my amusement and happiness.
There is none negative aspects I can think of but there sure is plenty of good stuff in this book. The plot is unique and mesmerizing, the characters are so complex and believable that you will surely end up loving and caring very much for them. The writing is amazing and very detailed, and I frankly appreciate this because it makes it very easy to imagine a whole new world, and in this case, that world is actually out there but we just don't understand what's going on with it. It makes me want to do something and start acting towards a better future.
The story is like nothing I've ever read before; the book is extremely hard to put down, because you will be hooked from the beginning.
I'm grateful for authors like Monica Corcuera because she doesn't only write about action or romance, she most importantly, manages to push you into believing that good will always triumph in the real world and no matter what adversities we have to overcome, there will always be a light at the end of the tunnel.
AMAZING!!!
This book is a very enjoyable read that takes the reader to an adventure packed with suspense, action, drama and romance.
Corcuera was really good at describing the problematic of gold mining, violence, animal Reserves, the savanna, the animals in Africa and at telling the story of this African adventure. For example, some of the sad tales left me feeling personally sad. The book was very enjoyable. Corcuera writes compelling narrative with a fascinating display of characters such as the corrupt chiefs, life and human rights defenders, the three photographers pursuing a worldwide consciousness.
This easy to read and fast paced story, makes you part of this drama and witness the devastation caused by contamination, lack of scruples, violation of the rights, murders and how these terrible conflicts devastate the lives of innocent people and many countries not only in Africa, but around the world. The main purpose of this story is to succeed in showing these acts worldwide, bringing awareness to those who are unaware and uninformed.
It is also hideous to realize how a precious thing called gold can turn human nature into despicable beings that can do so much harm and still walk around with no remorse. It’s a pity that many gold mines are in the poorest countries, like Africa, where the governments are involved in this mafia and still think they can get away with these outrageous acts.
This is a good book that will open your eyes to what is going on in the gold business and when you learn the origins of a gold ring, the process it goes through and the conditions of the land and people who mine it and implications to the environment, you may want to throw it away.
Corcuera’s writing style is entertaining, simple yet intelligent and I also appreciate her vivid descriptions that make me feel like I am actually inside a movie.
I thoroughly recommend it, it keeps you reading until the very end.
Explosive work that tells the unfortunate reality of what has happened in Africa since the European governments have left their colonies. While we have thought that the Liberty brought to these colonies would improve their general well being, unfortunately the worst of the European excesses has come to the fore. This piece gives a dramatic look at the greed over gold, gems and other desirable assets combined with mercenary people from The USA and Europe to help the governing people achieve their ends. Love of the land from the Native people as well as the NATO and other agencies desperately trying to save the Land, animals and resources from the rapacious greed around them. 5 Stars with a high recommendation to make this a mandatory part of anyone who loves Africa, a good action packed novel that they won't be able to put down until the last page is turned.
A nice novel young women will enjoy. Light reading, imagining being in an African savannah while drinking tea in a comfortable sofa.
